In 2024 I did not create too much. I started playing around with AI picture generation. And in december, I created a song for a challenge of a music design school. Go to Youtube or Instagram to see the video.

Eisenklang portrait photo

Short story

Antonius Eisenklang is a steampunk oriented character of an artist from Stuttgart, Germany.

I do not currently perform in public and do not intend to do so until there is a greater demand and a concept on how my studio work can be presented in an entertaining way to the audience.

Long story

Born 1970 in Stuttgart, I have been fascinated by technology and music since my childhood. From tone generated calculator, blower organ to first digital watches playing beeping melodies, I explored the world of sound creating devices. Later after school, I decided to learn more about sound engineering while gaining experience in movie sound, field recording and sounddesign. The devices and technology complexity grew by the years. Then, after years of being active as a freelance audio engineer, I decided to focus more on a technology job in software development as a quality consultant and enjoying my music creativity as a hobby. Since then several music styles have been discovered until 2016, when I started my career as a steampunk and created the artist name. I have an own mindset of what steampunk music/estetic is and as this is sometimes not in line with what other people presented as steampunk, I felt urged to create my own personal sphere of steampunk art. First, small pieces of steampunk music themes were created and later on the ideas went bigger and aimed to fulfill the desire to combine songwriting, sound design, industrial sounds, field recording in this very special music style of steampunk. By the time, also ideas of pictures, video and other artworks (DIY handcrafting) flew into the portfolio of my artwork.

My art

Marketing version

Be invited to a journey through a realm where gears dance to melodies, where echoes of steam-powered monster engines weave fragile tapestries of sound and vision into our dreams. Experience the enigmatic worlds of our Steampunk Maestro, a virtuoso of music, a magician of fascinating soundscapes, a visual alchemist, and an explorer of capturing the ethereal through the lens. Enjoy the interplay of man and machine with the perfect symbiosis of amorphous nature of human imperfection and strict precision of technology. Dare to dive into the secrets that Antonius Eisenklang hides in his sound and image creations.

Personal view

To be honest: this above is an optimized marketing text. In real life my art is more regarded as profan. But if there are people that give me likes for what I am doing, I feel more happy.

To sumarize my understanding of steampunk and what I like about it (and what I wand to express with my artwork) is the combination of retro victorian style with human imperfection and technologic precission. So for me, gears have to turn (not glued), steam needs to be visible and hearable. Machine and acoustical rhythms, melodies and harmonies need to be meachanic, organic, emotional, realistic. I want to feel the huge machines im my stomach, I want to fiddle arround with filigran tools, I want to make the fictional and real man - machine interaction becomming part of the art. So as I crate soundscapes and music, I use organic sounds and combine them with technologies of computer sound design.
